El Salvador is a very mountainous country in Central America that seems to have been tailor-made for growing fantastic coffee.
The country has a long coffee growing history, marked by these characteristics:
- 100% Arabica SHG (Strictly High Grown) coffee and HG (High Grown) coffee makes up the majority of the crop.
- Over 90% of all coffee produced is shade grown
- One of few countries that produces gourmet quality Bourbon, Pacas, and the legendary Pacamara and San Francisco varieties.
- Harvest time is generally between December and March, the rainy season in most coffee growing countries, but not in El Salvador (less rot and waste).
